Those rooms are amazing Meg. The cabinets look so lifelike! I think what amazes me most is how little the AGs actually look inside them, lord knows they are not exactly a small doll! LOL You should actually take a picture standing next to one of the rooms so we can see just how large they are!

Thank you Meg! You described the materials and construction techniques so clearly. I so wish my husband would BUY A TABLE SAW! I have been asking him to get one for the longest time because there are things I want to make that I just can't cut any other way. I think I will buy him one for a gift, and then use it myself!!My Dad was handy, but my husband not so much!
I'm still struggling with the idea of the freestanding "stageset" vs. wall mounting the upper cabinets as you are doing. That would mean building a room box like yours, but I guess I'm going to have pretty much the same size thing anyway! I have the Miele clothes washer to put in the kitchen also, and would like the dishwasher as well, but I thought I could order it from the UK, and now they are out! I have a soap dish that I think will convert into the perfect sink. Are you going to do a fridge from wood also? I just can't find one that is the right scale.
I have copied off quite a few "printies" from a website of food boxes and containers onto heavy glossy paper; all I have to do with those is cut them out and glue them together. I have the AG hand mixer and also a stand mixer that I don't remember where I got. Now I need a toaster too...
Like you, I have as much fun making things for the dolls as playing with them. I tell myself my granddaughter (age 2) will play with and love these things some day also! I have made lamps, a wood bench for Kirsten that looks just like the catalog one, and a braided rug for the bedroom, among other things.
Your success encourages me, thanks again! Lin
ps. I will be watching for more pictures!

Which website did you use for food box printables?
I've been to Jim's mini printables site but there's not a lot of kitchen related items.
I am making the fridge out of wood. I'm also hoping to put a huge magnet strip between the metalic looking contact paper and the wood so I can put mini magnets on the fridge door. I'm also hoping to use clear plexi-glass for the interior shelving. I'll put the freezer part on the bottom b/c that's what our fridge is like. So far I have the top, bottom and two sides of the fridge put together. It's going to be 19 inches high by about 7 inches deep and wide.

Look forward to seeing the sink you are making. Sounds really cute. The stove is darling and the white cabinet is a perfect size. Good job.

The food printies I have are from www.paperminis.com. She no longer seems to make items for the AG size dolls (the 1:3 scale) but has a CD for sale with all the previous designs. I printed them off on appropriate paper and they are so cute! I have already made up the entire gardening set and they are in perfect scale to go with the AGOT garden tools and watering can set. I filled the containers with rice and beans so they have some weight and shape to them. Ground coffee makes great looking potting soil! I got a few tiny clay pots from Michaels to complete the scene.
For the kitchen things I think I'm going to use dowels with painted ends for cans, and just use the can labels on them rather than trying to construct a round can from flat paper! Looks like too much work for me! I plan to make some fimo eggs to go in the AGOT egg carton that came with the Easter set. Michaels also has some miniature glass lidded jars which make cute canisters.
